Pancreatic Cancer DictionaryA-E | F-J | K-O | P-S | T-Zfunctioning islet cell tumors: Produce excessive amounts of hormones, leading to symptoms such as stomach ulcers, diabetes, diarrhea, abnormal blood sugar levels and skin rashes.
gastrinoma: A tumor that causes overproduction of gastric acid, usually in the pancreatic islet and leading to stomach ulcers.
giant cell tumors: A rare form of adenocarcinoma, characterized by larger, "giant" cells. These tumors are less aggressive than other adenocarcinomas.
islet cells: Hormone-producing clusters of cells in the pancreas.
jaundice: The build-up of bile salts resulting in yellow skin and a yellow tint to the eyes. In relation to pancreatic cancer, it is caused when a large tumor at the top of the pancreas blocks bile ducts leading from the liver.
